artists & co-authors: Creators and Performers of 8 Counts into the Void Hayley Gawthrop (They/Them) is an independent artist residing on the ancestral territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil- Waututh Nations (Vancouver). Hayley has been singing and dancing since their beginning. They are passionate about gentleness, bodily autonomy and listening with curiosity. Jessica Keeling (She/They) is a multidisciplinary Performance artist, choreographer, improviser and Movement Educator born on the land of the Wendat, Anishinaabe, Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Haudenosaunee people. Her international work in Film and onstage includes theater, commercial and contemporary worlds, spans over 30 years and 5 continents. Jessica is perpetually surprised by what inspires them and is currently doing their very best to be more of a silly goose. Creators and Performers of pool notes and (mis)alignments Aysia Tse (she/her) is a Singaporean-born visual artist, facilitator and arts worker based in Toronto. Her practice involves movement-based work, video, and multimedia installations that engage themes relating to madness, queerness, and her mixed diasporic identity. Her background as a professional coach and competitive artistic swimming athlete informs her interests in bodily inquiry and embodied performance.

H(annah) Kryworuchko (they/she/he) is an emerging textile artist/designer and facilitator completing their BDes at OCAD University in Material Art and Design. H’s practice is grounded in making with others, in their body, with land, and in water through quilting, weaving, printing, and dyeing. They develop relational and community-engaged work aligning with their values in abolition, solidarity, and care. H has over 15 years of experience in competitive artistic swimming and longer as a water lover.

Johnny Forever Nawracaj (they/them) is a nonbinary Polish-born performance and media artist currently based in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal. Drawing on personal experiences of labour and loss, their practice builds metaphors around the precarity of social structures. Combining queer femme tropes with construction materials, their most recent work explores the relationship between the labouring body and the built environment. Over the last fifteen years Forever has performed and shown work internationally at festivals, galleries, museums and community spaces. They often collaborate with their partner, sound artist Gambletron, merging FM radio transmission with digital media to conjure surreal soundscapes, installations and performances. Forever’s work emerges from a dedication to research practice. They hold an MA in art history from Concordia University and an MFA from USC Roski School of Art and Design. Jasmine Liaw (she/her) is an emerging interdisciplinary artist moving fluidly between roles of director, producer, designer, and curator in contemporary dance/performance art, new media installation, and experimental film. Evidenced in collaboration and community, Liaw's projects investigate transcultural narratives intersecting her Hakka-Chinese diaspora, queerness, kinesthetic in-betweenness, and topographical understanding of bodies in motion. As a practice of erosion, her work leans into the weight of displaced time and language as a circulatory offering of refusal towards dominant Western structures; developing an endurance for generative changes and knowledge(s).
